India is one of the most wonderful places to visit if you want a taste of life outside of your own culture. There are hundreds of things to do – far too many to talk about in one short post. However, if you dream of doing a few alternative things in India, this is the post for you. Take a look and pick something that suits you!

Visit Temples and Shrines

Visiting temples and shrines in India can feel really special, or spooky, depending on how you look at it. You can definitely feel a certain type of energy there, but you shouldn’t feel afraid. The Taj Mahal is always a good place to visit, but there are so many more that you don’t need to stick with the most visited. Do your own thing and visit the temples and shrines that appeal most to you.

Watch Wildlife

India has plenty of amazing wildlife for you to watch; monkeys, tigers, and elephants to name just a few. If you’d rather have some assistance while you see these animals, you can take a tour.

By touring the golden triangle, you can see lots of different things in India. The Golden triangle refers to 3 cities; Jaipur, New Delhi, and Agra.. Visit the Most Haunted Place in India

Why not go ahead and visit Bhangarh, the most haunted place in India, if you’re brave enough? There are only a handful of people who don’t report feeling any spooky goings on here, so if you want a bit of a fright, this is a great alternative activity to try.

Some of the flea markets in India are well worth a visit, even if you don’t plan on buying anything. Made famous by hippies in the 60s and 70s, the colorful stalls allow you to purchase all kinds of crafts.

Go on a Bike Adventure

You wouldn’t usually envision yourself travelling India by bike, but a bike adventure tour is a great way to get your bearings and have a look around. It might not be for thrillseekers, but it’s still a lot of fun!

Go to a Yoga Retreat

Going on a Yoga retreat in India will be one of the best things you do. Yoga and meditation come hand in hand, and in a place like India you’re in the most ideal place to learn more about it. You’ll begin to feel more at one with yourself almost immediately, balancing your chakras and getting a better sense of self.

If you do any of these things in India, you’ll feel like you’re making your time here worthwhile. You don’t have to do what every other tourist does to have an incredible time.
